Mid-Kent College

Mid-Kent College (MKC) is one of the largest vocational colleges in the South East, delivering hundreds of Higher and Further Education courses to around 7,000 students – with over 60% studying full-time. An impressive range of courses are offered to suit all needs – regardless of age or previous experience.

MKC has been designated a Centre of Vocational Excellence in Electrical Installation - an official acknowledgement of the commitment to establishing new standards of excellence in the field of Electrical Installation training.

Local employers and businesses across the region use MKC to provide training for employees in a wide range of disciplines. MKC works closely with local industry to provide engineering courses for employers such as BAE Systems, Aylesford Newsprint, Whatman International and others. It has close links with the Construction Industry Training Board, which ensures that they meet the latest standards of training for the construction industry.

MKC is closely associated with the University of Kent – one of the UK's most highly regarded universities – with all Higher Education qualifications being validated by them. At the new ‘multiversity’ development at Chatham Maritime, MKC works alongside the University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church University and University of Greenwich.

Links with local schools offer students in the 14-16 age group the opportunity of experiencing vocational learning and progressing through practical, hands-on training to higher level courses.

In 2009, MKC will open its new £82m state-of-the-art campus adjacent to the RSME site in Chatham.
