Training Solution

Holdfast will seek to build upon the achievements of the RSME in Royal Engineer training, working in partnership to continue the injection of new ideas and to apply modern training methods and technology.

Under the RSME PPP project, the responsibility for training delivery will be shared between the RSME and Holdfast. Holdfast will also provide training support and training management service.

Holdfast's focus will be on delivering relevant training efficiently, in ways that make learning enjoyable as well as a valuable experience.

Location

Training will take place at three centres: Chatham, Minley and Bicester.

RSME training will remain at:

  • Chatham - principally Brompton, Wainscott and Upper Upnor.
  • Minley - Gibraltar Barracks and Hawley Hard.

DEODS and NSC training will re-locate from Lodge Hill to new training facilities on vacant MOD sites near Bicester.

Managing Change

The development of training at RSME will take place in two distinct stages:

  1. The implementation and assessment phase will be a 5 year period in which Holdfast takes on responsibility for delivery of training, support and management services. During this period Holdfast will assess the suitability of specific courses for development.
  2. The development phase will see the implementation of innovation in training, in partnership with MOD, to achieve the vision for future training.
