Training Solutions

The FIBUA Houses are part of the Urban Warfare Complex developed by the Royal School of Military Engineering (RSME). The Strategic referencing was undertaken by the HQ Plans and Infra teams working alongside industry specialists.

Holdfast delivered the Project working with partners seamlessly integrated into the Design, Procurement and Construction Process. This resulted in two concrete houses being delivered on budget and within tight timescales to the exact specification required. The houses were completed with subterranean basements and oversized rooms to enable training to be observed. The concrete frame has been engineered to deal with large forces exerted on it during training. Each building has removable stairs, bomb damage roofs, demountable door systems, and wall and floor openings that can be removed using targeted explosive techniques. Crucially, trainees learn that tactics are amended by the 3D environment; limited fields of view, enhanced concealment, cover for defenders, below-ground infrastructure, ease of placement of booby traps and snipers can all be demonstrated.

Holdfast are pleased to have been able to deliver such a valuable training facility that enables the RSME to continuously improve the state of readiness of its serving personnel.

The 'Carpers for Veterans Support' event was yet again a great success raising over £4k for Blind Veterans UK.

The event was held at Oak Lakes Fisheries,  Southminster, and was attended by veterans and serving personnel. The weather was glorious and the weekend was packed with good humour, spirit, coupled with grit and determination to win the 1st place trophy!

We were delighted to welcome the winning pupils from Byron Primary School, Gillingham and St Margaret’s Infant School, Rainham to The Royal School of Military Engineering. The pupils enjoyed seeing several of our sustainability projects such as beehives, wormery, allotments and hydroponics and as you can see, clearly got stuck in with the worms! The pupils all had a wonderful time, and it was especially rewarding to hear one pupil say “I’ve had the best day”…

Holdfast would like to thank ESS for their collaboration in this ESG initiative; we couldn't have done it without you.  We look forward to seeing both schools in September when we help to install their new school wormeries!   

We are thrilled to receive a Gold Award at the InfraRed ‘Creating Better Future Awards’ held in London on 19^th June. This award was in recognition of the fantastic project at Gundolph Pond which provides a cost effective and environmentally friendly solution to control the weed growth to ensure there is no impact on the delivery of Sea Survival Training. The Judges’ comments were: ‘An excellent initiative that addresses mental health as well as focusing on biodiversity and the natural environment.' Holdfast would like to thank all our key Stakeholders for their support and encouragement in the setup and delivery of this excellent initiative. Holdfast have continued to concentrate on new ESG initiatives throughout the year and look forward to entering next years competition!
